The Who to play at the Super Bowl? Cool!

February 7th is the Super Bowl! Pretty cool that The Who will be performing during the half-time show. They’ll be performing a medley of their hits including: “Baba O’Riley,” “Pinball Wizard,” “Tommy,” “Who Are You” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again.” So watch for this epic performance. Will.i.am also teamed up with Slash (the guitar god) to make a remix of the Who’s “My Generation” which will premiere at the game. I can’t wait for this since I like Black Eyed Peas, Will.i.am, Slash, Guns n Roses, and The Who a lot!

Last.fm Tumblr Weekly Top Artists

Very cool! This is how to have automatic posts every week with the top 5 artists you listened to in last.fm. Thanks joelaz!!

If you’d like to highlight your music interests from Last.fm on your Tumblr page but don’t want to inundate friends with posts for each track, check out this simple tool I made called Last.fm Tumblr. Instead of generating a post for every individual track you listen to, this feed updates once a week with a list of your top 5 artists from the prior week. Less noise, same effect. See my post from last Sunday for an example of how the list will appear on Tumblr.

To add the feed to your Tumblr:

Visit the Last.fm Tumblr page.

Enter your Last.fm user name and click “Run Pipe”.

Select “Get as RSS” and copy that URL.

Go to the Customize page on Tumblr, then click the “Feeds” tab

Paste the RSS URL into the RSS feed form as “links with summaries”.

All done. Resume Tumbln.

The feed will automatically update each week on Sunday unless you don’t listen to any music through Last.fm that week, in which case nothing will appear. Let me know if you run into any problems or have any suggestions to improve the feed.

NOTE: If you run the Pipe and it returns an error message saying there are no results to display, that usually means you didn’t listen to 5 or more bands last week through Last.fm. You can confirm that by visiting the following link, but replace “joelaz” in the URL with your own Last.fm user name…

If you don’t see 5 or more bands listed, listen to more bands this week and try to run the pipe again next week.

Brand new synth song! Its called “Hip Hop Logic” but its actually electronic not hip hoppy. I was just testing out the preset hip hop workstation in Logic Pro 9. (Has an interesting breakdown type part thats kinda inspired by LMFAO and 3OH!3) So,

I love system of a down! Just as this post says, theyre great! Although they don’t scare me as much as they scare him/her.

System of a Down - Chop Suey

I can’t lie ya’ll - System of a Down scares me just a tiny bit. They’re a tad darker then what I usually listen to. That said - Chop Suey is one fantastic song. From the amazing guitar intro in the beginning to the other instruments entering slowly to build to that fantastic 20 seconds before the lyrics start.

And the transitions from frantic to slow and thoughtful are just amazing. We used to drive around just screaming nonsense when this song came on. We loved it, didn’t know any of the lyrics and didn’t really. Matter of fact - I still don’t think I know all of the lyrics. It’s more fun to make up my own : )
